Pressio®
MRI Support

The Pressio® MRI Support is designed to position Pressio® Catheters in an optimum position for an MRI examination.

About the Pressio® MRI Support

Pressio® Catheters are thin and flexible, feature an integrated memory and come in complete kits in 3 configurations, depending on clinician’s needs for the monitoring of ICP and ICT.
The Pressio® MRI Support ensures a perfect and repeatable coiling of the Pressio® Catheter (MR conditional marked) to avoid any thermal brain injury. The Pressio® MRI Support allows sensor wires to be coiled in a perpendicular way to the body axis, with 4-5 loops of 5cm, and to be safely positioned on the top of the patient’s head.

It has been demonstrated that coiling the sensor wire in this way drastically reduces the “antenna effect” and consequently the heating of the tip(1). The “antenna effect” of the sensor wire is caused by the resonant radiofrequency (RF) and can lead to the heating of the catheter tip up to 64°C 1  if positioned in a straight line during an MRI examination.
